As a first generation Iranian-American born in the heart of America, Poolak describes her experiences growing up in the 80s. Her funny name doesn't quite help her fit in with her fellow classmates in Southern California, and she quickly becomes the target of bullying. With help from her mom, she learns how to understand herself, respect her nationality, gain courage, strength and accept her uniqueness.
